Local Activities
There is so much to do in the area; just below the cottage is a delightful sandy beach with numerous rock pools to explore, sandcastles to build, kites to fly and games of beach cricket, tennis or bouls to be played. Watersports or fishing for mackerel or sea bass can be enjoyed, whether from the beach, rocks or perhaps a boat. Follow the cliff path south and visit the lifeboat station at St. Justinian's, you can also go on fishing trips from here, or visit the bird sanctuary at Ramsey Island. |
Go north along the cliff path to visit Whitesands beach (which has been granted the European Blue Flag Award) - there is a very well stocked beachside cafe/shop where you can hire wet suits or just treat yourself to an ice cream. You can then climb Carn Llidi for some amazing views or walk in the foorsteps of "early Welshmen" to Porthmelgan beach just a little further towards St. Davids Head. You may like to cycle around the country lanes or play golf at Whitesands Bay Golf Club - Haverfordwest also has a fine course. For those seeking a bit of excitement there are high speed boat trips around Ramsey Island where you get a chance to ride the rapids of Ramsey Sound. Or if you fancy something more physical the cliffs around the area are home to TYF coasteering.

Alternatively you may like to seek your thrills at Oakwood - an adventure park that boasts the largest wooden rollercoaster in Britain, as well as many other rides. A full day's fun is guaranteed and it's less than an hour from the cottage. Nearby there is also a cracking go-cart circuit. Another attraction I'd highly recommend is Heatherton Park. A whole day could be spent here too. There's a vast range

of activities, go-carts, archery, laser target shooting, crazy golf, croquet, target pistol shooting, baseball, horse treking and a challenging 18-hole pitch and put course.
For those wishing to experience something different, and truly "Welsh" a trip to the National Coracle Centre is Cenarth Falls is a must. Then between St. Davids and Haverfordwest, at a small village called Keeston, is a most fascinating Motorcar Museum that will interest both young and old.

"Younger families" seeking a fun-filled day out couldn't do better than visit "Folly Farm". Much more than a farm, almost a mini zoo that also hosts a magnificent indoor Victorian Fairground.
Also in the local area is the port of Fishguard, here you will find a cinema, bingo hall, and a small oceanarium with cafe and soft play area. It's also possible to take a day trip to Ireland where you can visit the famous glass-making town of Wexford. |
As well as all of the above there is a chocolate factory, pony trekking, sheepdog trial exhibitions, cheese makers, numerous art galleries and much, much more to be found. The Tourist Information Centre in St. Davids has a vast amount of information available.
Of course the "Jewel in the Crown" is the Historic "CITY" of St. Davids with its stunning Cathedral, the ruins of The Bishop's Palace and the fascinating little chapel at St. Nons. A day or more can be spent visiting these historical sites; and then there is the little fishing town of Solva and the amazing beach at Newgale. We could go on and on .... After returning year after year our visitors are still finding new places to go and things to do. There really is something for everyone!
